KOCHI: The High Court has ordered to grant temporary admission to two handicapped students in their appeal against denial of medical admission despite passing NEET.

The single bench had rejected the plea filed earlier by them seeking permission for medical admission. The appeal filed against this is being considered by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Ashish J Desai and Justice VG Arun. When the petitioners submitted their application for writing the last NEET, the petitioners had also submitted the certificates issued by the Ministry of Social Justice stating their membership limit. Considering this, they were allowed to write the exam. But after passing NEET, they were found not eligible for medical admission in the examination of the medical board appointed by the medical council. The petitioners approached the High Court against this.

The High Court opined that prima facie it is clear that they are eligible for medical admission as they were allowed to write the examination knowing about their disability. Following this, temporary admission was ordered. Admission shall be subject to final verdict of the petition.
