KOCHI: Shajan Skariah, owner of the popular online portal 'Marunadan Malayali' was arrested in a forgery case on Saturday. The arrest was made in a case of forging a BSNL bill. Shajan was interrogated in Nilambur and was taken into custody when he came out from the questioning.
Thrikkakara police took Shajan into custody and registered his arrest. The case was registered after Radhakrishnan, a Delhi resident filed a complaint by directly sending an email to the chief minister.
Earlier, the high court gave an ultimatum to Shajan to appear before police for questioning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, on the charge of broadcasting religious hatred through his YouTube channel. Justice K Babu even warned Shajan about canceling the anticipatory bail if he fails to appear for questioning.
The Director General of Prosecution earlier informed the court that the investigation was stalled as Shajan was accused of evading questioning sessions. It was after discerning the situation that the single bench asked Shajan to appear for questioning on Saturday morning.
