CHANDIGARH: Police deny permission for Jal Abhishek Yatra in Haryana. The police informed that security has been strengthened in the state and arrangements have been made in this background. Police informed that permission for the procession was denied in the context of G-20 as well. A meeting of senior police officers of Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan was held under the leadership of DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor. Internet services have been suspended in the state as part of preventive measures. Section 144 prohibits the gathering of people in packed areas. The ban will continue till midnight on Monday. The aim is to avoid rumours and controversial statements. Meanwhile, the organizers of the procession have informed that the procession will be conducted by the Sarv Hindu Samaj and that they are ready to discuss the details of the program and the conference. They said that only the Hindus of Nuh have been invited and no one from outside has been invited.
A conflict broke out during the VHP rally on July 31 due to stone pelting during the procession. Six people were killed in the riots. Following this, the internet was suspended for two weeks.
