THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As per weather prediction, Onam days are likely to be scorching hot. The temperature will likely remain high till Wednesday.
The temperature in Kollam may increase by three degrees today from yesterday's high of 36 degrees Celsius. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Palakkad districts have a possibility of temperature rise up to two degrees above normal and Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts by one to two degrees. The Disaster Management Authority advised people to be cautious as there is a possibility of sunstroke from 11 am to 2 pm. The revised rainfall advisory does not indicate the possibility of significant rainfall in the state for a week.
Monsoon trough move towards Himalayan valley
The monsoon is weakened as the monsoon trough moves towards the Himalayan valley. The strengthening of the El Nino phenomenon in the Pacific Ocean has also contributed to the decrease in rainfall. It also created conditions for temperature rise.
