LUCKNOW: The teacher changed has her stance on the incident where classmates of the seven-year-old Muslim student were made to slap him across the face. The teacher said that she had made a mistake and apologized through a video message. She apologized with folded hands. Tripta Tyagi said that the incident should not be communalised.

'The student had not done his homework. My intention was to remind him of the lessons. I am disabled and could not get up. That is why some children were asked to slap the student a couple of times. I did so so that the child would study. I am saying with folded hands that it was wrong. There is no distinction between Hindu and Muslim in my mind. I teach many children who cannot afford to pay the fees in the school for free. There was no intention to abuse Muslim children'- says the teacher in the video.

When there was a huge outcry over the incident, the first thing the teacher did was justify her actions. The police, who did not take any action despite the child's father filing a complaint, filed a case against the teacher after the video went viral and sparked nationwide protests. The parents decided to remove the child from the school, but after a discussion with the school authorities, they withdrew from it. The infamous Neha Public School in Muzaffar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, has been closed following the incident.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed against Alt News co-founder Muhammad Zubair, who released the video of a student being slapped by his classmates. The FIR mentions that the footage was circulated through social media without hiding the identity of the child.
