THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KPCC leadership is of the stand that the announcement of the mandalam presidents cannot be delayed further. The leadership has directed DCC presidents to hand over the list by September 5 after completing the discussion of district-level committees except Kottayam. Kottayam was exempted because of the Puthuppally by-election. All the mandalam presidents will be announced by September 10.

The mandalam presidents of Pathanamthitta district have been announced. Discussions are dragging on regarding the mandalam presidents in other districts. The KPCC leadership intervened and froze the list in Palakkad after the allegation that the list was unilaterally decided by the DCC became strong. The leadership has directed to prepare a new list after discussing and reaching an agreement in the presence of MPs and people's representatives of the district. The leadership is of the stand that as the Lok Sabha elections are fast approaching, there should be no delay in strengthening the organizational system at the grassroots level. After announcing the mandalam presidents as soon as possible, the focus should be on strengthening the booth-level systems at the grassroots level. Mandalam and block office bearers also need to be announced.

The list of block presidents was announced in the first week of June. Although the list was released at the end of marathon discussions, it became controversial when groups A and I came forward expressing their displeasure. Although the groups announced that they would approach the High Command, the controversy later subsided.
