KILIMANOOR: A young man drowned in a temple pond while taking a swim on Monday. Shiju (29) of Udayakunath house in Pulimath is the deceased. The incident happened at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday when Shiju came with his friend Vijayakumar to take a bath in the Raloorkaavu temple pond. However, tragedy struck soon as Shiju’s leg got stuck in the mud that was settled in the dangerous depths of the pond.

Shiju started going down the water making furious strokes and it was his friend Vijayakumar who haplessly watched it and made a loud cry for help. Locals and police reached the spot, helped Shiju get out of the muddy water, and rushed him to the hospital. However, the youngster died midway on the journey to the hospital.
