THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have finally registered a case against the cyber abuse continuing unabated at Achu Oommen, daughter of former CM Oommen Chandy. The Poojappura Police has registered a case against Nandakumar Kolathappilly, a left organization leader and former Additional Secretary of the Secretariat. He has been charged with a bailable offense. Earlier, Nandhakumar apologized publicly after Achu Oommen opened up about moving ahead with a case to tackle the forces behind cyberbullying.

Nandakumar said he did not intend to insult womanhood and apologized unconditionally for the mistake.

Achu was subjected to shocking abuse on social media as people mostly tilting with the left party denigrated her content-making vlogs on Instagram. She decided to lodge a complaint with the cyber police, Poojappura police wing after the abuse started affecting her professional life. She also gave a complaint to the women’s commission against the vendetta politics carried out in the wake of the Puthuppally by-election.

Earlier, abuse and deriding of Achu Oommen came through anonymous social media handles. But things have gone out of hand as many CPM-affiliated pages are now busy indulging in tainting the former CM's daughter’s professional life.
