NEW DELHI: The central government has announced a reduction in the price of LPG cylinder by Rs 200. This sudden move is part of the touted Ujjwala scheme.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur in a Cabinet briefing announced the government's decision to slash the rates by Rs 200. With this move, the price of the LPG cylinder will come down from Rs 1110 to Rs 910. Many people, already registered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala scheme were availing the benefits of Rs 200 concession. Those people will be benefitted further as the current subsidy comes on top of those existing subsidies. For these people, an LPG cylinder will be available for just Rs 710.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the government has decided to provide 75 lakh new gas connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme.

“ The present decision to slash prices is a Rakshabandhan-Onam gift from the Prime minister. The decision is a relief for the lakhs of women folks in the country.” Minsiter said.
