BENGALURU: India’s ambitious lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 has unearthed crucial findings from the moon. The Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) instrument placed along with the Pragyan rover confirmed the presence of sulphur on the moon. No country has hitherto made such vital findings from the moon's surface.
Along with sulphur, aluminum, calcium, ferrous, chromium, titanium, manganese, silicon, and oxygen have also been found. ISRO also announced through a tweet that the search for hydrogen is underway.
The Vikram lander is currently performing self-assessment and transmitting information from the rover as radio waves to the Deep Space Network antenna in Bengaluru. This information will be subjected to study and analysis at the ISTRAC control station in Bengaluru itself.
Chandrayaan 2's orbiter, NASA, and European space centers are cooperating with ISRO and are helping in the analysis of the rover's findings from the moon.
