KOCHI: CPM's former state committee member Sarojini Balanandan passed away on Tuesday. She was now residing at her daughter's house in North Paravur in Ernakulam where she breathed her last. She is the wife of the late E. Balanandan, former MP and CPM politburo member.
Due to age-related ailments, it was on Tuesday night at 8:30 pm, that she slipped out of consciousness and started feeling unwell. Sarojini was rushed to hospital by relatives but was declared dead. During her heydays in the party, she found a place in the CPM state committee and was the leader of the Mahila Association.
In 1996, she unsuccessfully contested for the Legislative Assembly from Aluva. Later in 2012, CPM expelled her from the state committee. Her body is currently kept at Don Bosco Hospital Mortuary, Paravur.
