KASARGOD: Action has been taken against the policemen in connection with the death of a student while overtaking the police. Three policemen have been transferred in the death of Farhas (17), a native of Kannur, who was undergoing treatment after his car overturned while trying to overtake the police. Action has been taken against the sub inspector and others who followed the car. Sub inspector Rajith and CPOs Deepu and Ranjith were transferred.

The family alleged that police chase led to the accident and filed a complaint with the chief minister. The police said the officers were transferred as part of an investigation. The crime branch is investigating the incident. The student's mother also lodged a complaint with the human rights commission.

The accident happened while he was overtaking the police when travelling with his friends. Farhas is a plus two student of Angadimogaru Govt Higher Secondary School. Farhas sustained spinal injuries in the accident that happened at Kumbala in Kasaragod on Friday.


The family alleged that the accident happened after the police followed the car for five kilometers from Angadimogaru to Kattathadka. Protests were staged following the incident. Meantime, the police said the accident happened due to the dangerous driving of the students.
