PALAKKAD: Natives of Kottoppadam in Palakkad's Mannarkkad are rocked by the death of three sisters who had gathered to celebrate Onam. Their father is traumatized by having to watch his children Nishitha (26), Ramisha (23) and Rinshi (18) drown in front of his eyes.
Ramsheena and Nashida, who are married, have reached home because it is Onam. Their brother is bedridden after a kidney transplant surgery. The donor of the kidney was his mother. As both of them were undergoing treatment, the father used to look after the affairs of the house. Along with the father, the three daughters came to the pond in Bhimanad for bathing and washing clothes.
After one of the sisters slipped into the pond, the others tried to save her but in vain. All three drowned in the pond. The father struggled to speak out as he was shocked to see his children drown before his eyes. Seeing the father's desperate attempt to save his children, the migrant workers nearby informed the locals. By then it was too late. Being a sparsely populated area also delayed the rescue. Locals pulled the trio out and took them to a private hospital in Mannarkadu, but their lives could not be saved. The body will be handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
