WASHINGTON: Nearly eight out of ten Indians have a favourable view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and feel that India's global presence has strengthened in recent years according to a survey. The report of the survey conducted by the Pew Research Center based in Washington, USA has been released.

55% have favourable view of Modi. Only a fifth had an unfavorable view of him. Seven in ten Indians believe India's influence has strengthened in recent years. 65% of those surveyed have a favorable view of the US. At the same time, four in ten believe that Russia's global influence is strong.

Of the 24 countries surveyed this year, India was the only country where a majority had a favourable view of Russia (57%) and confidence in President Vladimir Putin according to the Pew Research Center.

At the same time, two-thirds of Indians do not have a favorable reaction to China. The survey was conducted on 2,611 Indians between March 25 and May 11.
