THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It had been a good few days in the office for Bevco as they brought some needed lucre to coffers during this year's Onam. According to recent estimates, Jawan rum is the most-sold liquor brand in Kerala during this year’s Onam season. Bevco figures indicate that 70,000 cases of Jawan Rum were sold during Onam.
Rs 91 Crore worth of Liquor sale took place in Bevco on Avittam day. According to reports, the Tirur outlet sold the most liquor on Avittam day. Rs 759 crore worth of liquor was sold between the 21st and 30th of this month. The government will get Rs 675 crores as tax on this item.
This time the highest sales took place on Uthradam day. Rs 116 crore worth of liquor was sold during this single day. From Kerala, it was the Iringalakuda outlet that bested all others with a total of Rs 1.06 crore collection. Liquor worth Rs 1.01 crore was sold through the Kollam Ashram outlet. An 8.5% increase in sales has been recorded this year as compared to what was achieved during the last year.
Minding the big sales in cards during onam time, Bevco warned warehouse-outlet managers to behave in a cordial tone with customers in the outlet and asked not to let any skirmish happen under their watch.
The required liquor including popular brands should be procured from the warehouse. The stock should be displayed in the way customers see it. Special provisions were also made to promote digital money transactions. Along with all these rules, It was also suggested that employees should avoid taking leave during the Onam season as much as possible.
