KOCHI: The police will file the charge sheet today in the case of sexual abuse and murder of a five-year-old girl in Aluva. The 800-page charge sheet will be filed in the Ernakulam POCSO court at 11:30 am today. The charge sheet is filed against Asafak Alam, a native of Bihar, on the 35th day after the brutal murder. The police will also file a plea seeking a speedy trial.
More than 10 charges including murder and rape have been imposed against the accused. Rape was the aim of the accused. The charge sheet clarified that the murder was committed to destroy evidence after rape.
The incident happened on July 28. The brutal murder was brought to light by the investigation into the missing complaint filed by her mother, a migrant worker from Bihar with the Aluva East Police. Asafaq Alam was arrested by the police based on the information received from the CCTV footage. He initially said that he had not kidnapped the child.
After eighteen hours of search, her body was recovered from a garbage dump near the Aluva market. While collecting evidence with the accused, he narrated the brutal murder to the police. When he was brought for evidence collection, big protests were witnessed in the area.
