THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government collected 759 crores from the sale of alcohol as a measure to alleviate the state's financial crisis. This revenue was generated in connection with the Onam celebrations. To put this into perspective, the Chandrayan 3 mission which brought immense pride to the country, cost 600 crores. Furthermore, liquor sales in Kerala exceeded 159 crores.
Compared to the previous year, there has been an increase in sales of over eight percent. According to the Kerala State Beverage Corporation, Bevco achieved its highest sales amounting to 116 crores on Uthradam. Notably, the leading rum brand 'Jawan' recorded the highest sales within ten days with a remarkable 70,000 cases sold in Kerala alone. The outlet in Tirur, Malappuram witnessed the highest sales among all locations.
