THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the monsoon is intensifying in the state. According to IMD, Kerala will receive heavy rains for the next four days due to the co-existence of two cyclonic circulations. IMD has predicted that isolated places will receive extremely heavy rain from September 4 to 6.

A yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha districts on Sunday.

An orange alert has been sounded in Alappuzha district on September 4th and 5th and Idukki district on September 6th in the wake of the rain warning. Isolated places in these districts are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall.

People in hilly areas have been asked to remain cautious and avoid night travel. The rain that started on Friday morning in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, and Pathanamthitta districts continued till afternoon. There was heavy rain in the hilly areas. There was a minor landslide at Sayippinkuzhi between Gavi and Moozhiyar in Pathanamthitta. People living near the sea should be extra cautious. Fishing has been prohibited.
