KANNUR: Former Minister K C Joseph said the voice message that surfaced saying that they were not allowed to meet former chief minister Oommen Chandy is fake. A phone conversation saying that the former chief minister’s wife and son Chandy Oommen did not allow K C Joseph, M M Hassan and Benny Behnan to meet Oommen Chandy in Bengaluru, is not true.
K C Joseph said that it was CPM's last chance to save their faces by winning four votes by defaming Chandy Oommen and his family after confirming their defeat in the Puthupally by-elections. Joseph stated that after Oommen Chandy went to Bengaluru for treatment, he, M M Hassan and Benny Behanan had visited him at least once in a fortnight, individually and together.
‘From the time Oommen Chandy stayed at his relative Milan's farmhouse in Bengaluru, we visited him in the hospital and had held long discussions on political matters and Congress organizational matters. Me, Hassan and Benny had last seen him a week before his death. Chandy Oommen was not there when we visited him. He was busy with Bharat Jodo Yatra and other events.
A week before Oommen Chandy's death, we reached his residence around 12 noon. As the treatment was going on at that time, we had to rest there for a while. That time we talked about many things with his wife. After the treatment was completed, we met Oommen Chandy. We talked with him for a while and returned after that. This is the truth, levelling baseless allegations and saying that Chandy Oommen did not allow us to meet Oommen Chandy is completely baseless. Requesting the Marxist Party and its cyber cell mercenaries to withdraw from such allegations of degradation and slanderous propaganda,’ clarified K C Joseph.
