NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that India aims to achieve developed status by 2047. He also asserted that India which has rapidly risen to the fifth position aspires to secure a position in the top three in the future. These remarks were made during an interview with the news agency PTI ahead of the G20 summit.
Modi emphasized, ‘India has laid the groundwork for a transformative growth that will be etched in history for generations to come. We are steadfast in our commitment to eliminate corruption, casteism, and communalism from the country. We are determined to ensure that the impoverished citizens of our nation triumph over poverty. For far too long, hundreds of millions of our fellow citizens have suffered from deprivation, but now they have the opportunity to lead lives of their choosing. Over two billion people have become self-reliant.’
He added, ‘The global shift towards a more human-centred approach is already underway, and India is playing a pivotal role. Our G20 presidency has instilled confidence in what are often referred to as Third World countries. The 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' (Together with All, Development for All) model that has been our guiding principle is also a beacon of hope for the well-being of the world. As the chair of the G20, India's words and perspectives are not mere ideas; they are regarded as a roadmap for the future.’
