KOZHIKODE: On the complaint filed by the Patron of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Protection Committee Satish Parannur to the Chief Minister, in the case of defamation of President Draupadi Murmu on Facebook, the State Police Chief has forwarded the complaint to the District City Police Commissioner for immediate investigation. In the letter from the DGP office to the district police chief, there is a special mention that an immediate investigation should be conducted on the complaint, and the investigating officers should ensure that the instructions given from time to time are strictly followed in connection with the investigation and that the statement of the complainant should be recorded and appropriate legal action should be taken and a clear and precise reply should be given to the complainant. Moreover, the notification also said that all the information regarding the investigation should be updated to the DGP office in a timely manner.
The action was initiated on the complaint filed by Satish Parannur on August 17, requesting that action be taken against an offensive Facebook post made by an ID named Pratibha Nair with a photo of the President based on the events in Manipur.
