puthuppally-election

KOTTAYAM: Puthuppally, the focal point of Kerala politics for a month now, is all ready to end the political stalemate on Monday with election polling.

Oommen Chandy's daughter Achu Oommen and Uma Thomas MLA, wife of late P T Thomas were star presence in the last days of election campaigning in Puthuppally. Meanwhile, Chandy Oommen, the UDF candidate for Puthuppally was far away from the gala as he was busy making marathon walks to ensure that he wouldn't miss any voters. In three hours, Chandy trotted 25 km with ease. He was still vibrant enough to carry on with campaigning showing no traces of weariness.

Meanwhile, CPM's Jaick C Thomas reached the final campaign with a bike rally and roadshow. BJP's Lijinlal thrilled people by climbing atop a crane along with state president K. Surendran in one rare final-day show.

Veteran congressman Oommen Chandy has created a conducive field for his son Chandy Oommen to thrive as people are still in grief and are sympathetic towards the kin of the late congress leader. Meanwhile, CPM will try to create history through their adept organizational skills and their unfettered fighting spirit to give it all.

Oommen Chandy's treatment controversy, which was first discussed by the CPM, was again circulated on the final days putting many congress leaders in the dock. CPM worked to restrict discussion in Puthuppally to development alone, while the UDF tried all means to bring subjects including the Anti-government wave and the mundane works of the LDF government into the forefront.
