NEW DELHI: ISRO has announced that the first orbit-raising maneuver of India's first solar research probe, Aditya L-1, has been successful. The orbit raising was at 11.40 am yesterday. ISRO said that Aditya's operation is efficient and the next phase of orbit raising will take place on September 5 at 3 am. The orbit will be raised four more times.

Aditya is currently in an elliptical orbit between 245 km and 22,459 km from Earth. Aditya will begin orbiting the Sun after reaching its destination 15 lakh kilometers from Earth in 125 days. Aditya was launched on PSLV-XLC 57 rocket from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 11.50 am on Saturday morning.
