CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Minister and Chief Minister M K Stalin's son, Udayanidhi Stalin made a statement recently that ignited a significant political controversy. Criticism was also raised suggesting that Udayanidhi implied the need to eliminate those who follow Sanatana Dharma. Udayanidhi has now responded to this.
Udayanidhi stated that the BJP has misinterpreted his statement. He affirmed that he stands by his original statement and is prepared to face any legal consequences. ‘I will reiterate my stance. It is immature for some to claim that I advocate for genocide. Some individuals argue that Dravidianism should be abolished. Does that mean eliminating all DMK supporters? Prime Minister Modi himself contends that Congress is an essential part of free India. Does that imply exterminating all Congress members?’
Udayanidhi questioned the meaning of Sanatana, stating that it signifies the perpetuity of existence. He criticized the BJP for persistently distorting his statements. He claimed that the BJP is apprehensive of the united opposition in India and is therefore attempting to divert attention. Udayanidhi Stalin's earlier statement suggested that Sanatana Dharma should be eradicated, akin to combating diseases like dengue and malaria. He argued that removing Sanatana Dharma would contribute to the promotion of humanity and human equality.
