THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Both the companies participating in KSEB's tender will supply electricity at Rs 6.88 per unit, which is less than the rate proposed earlier. The offer of Adani Power Company and DB Power Company came during the discussion with KSEB authorities. Adani has announced that it will supply 303 MW of electricity and DB Power will supply 100 MW of electricity. It will be submitted to the KSEB Regulatory Commission for final approval.

When the tender for the purchase of 500 MW for five years was opened this morning, only two companies participated. Adani Power proposed Rs 6.90 and DB Rs 6.97. Both companies reduced the rate to 6.88 as requested by KSEB in the reverse bid negotiation.

At present, electricity is purchased from the daily power exchange to meet the crisis at an average rate of 9 rupees. The crisis was triggered by the cancellation of a long-term agreement in May to purchase 465 MW of electricity at a rate of Rs 4.29 per unit. The new amount is much higher than the amount in the cancelled contract.
