VADAKANCHERRY: Three youths are missing after their canoe capsized at Anavari in Peechi Reservoir. The incident happened at 5 pm yesterday.The missing are Vibin (26), Naushad (29) and Ajith (21). Sivaprasad (23) who was also with them survived.

The four friends started their journey from Marutukuzhi in a fibre canoe. They had brought the canoe ashore just before the accident occurred at Anavari during which Shivaprasad came out. The canoe overturned when the other three paddled back to the reservoir.

The accident happened in a deeper part of the reservoir. Shivaprasad, who was ashore, informed the nearby workers. Then locals, fire brigade, scuba team and police reached the spot and started the rescue operation.The search continued late into the night. Locals said that the group of four went to the reservoir to catch fish.
