COLOMBO: Team India was selected for the ODI World Cup cricket tournament today. However, fans have raised significant criticism on social media for the omission of senior players such as Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan, Rahane, Sanju Samson and Chahal from the team.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed his discontent when asked about these criticisms by the media. He firmly responded, ‘Please refrain from asking me such questions. Save them for when I hold a press conference in India before the World Cup. I will not entertain such queries.’ Rohit went on to emphasize that he has already addressed such questions multiple times and pointed out that the Indian team boasts a deep batting lineup emphasizing the distinct roles of the selected players.
Fans also questioned the inclusion of K L Rahul, who hasn't played a single match after returning from injury and the choice to include Suryakumar Yadav, who has a limited record in ODIs. Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the vice-captain in Rohit Sharma's World Cup team. The squad includes K L Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Siraj, Mohammad Shami, Axar Patel and Kuldeep.
