THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite having a better collection of 70.97 crores in ten days during Onam, the salary distribution of KSRTC employees will be delayed. As per the agreement made with the labor unions, the employees were supposed to be paid on Tuesday. However, even the first installment has not been disbursed.
As the collection amount was diverted to cover regular expenses, there was no surplus for salaries. An overdraft of Rs 10 crore may have to be borrowed. A letter asking for 80 crores in financial help was addressed to the Finance Department on August 26 in light of the crisis. However, it has still not been approved.
KSRTC collected Rs 70.97 crore from August 26 to September 4. On September 4th, the first working day after Onam, it collected a record amount of Rs 8.79 crores. The previous single-day collection record was Rs 8.48 crore earned during the Sabarimala season on January 16.
