KOCHI: The High Court has expressed its displeasure with the remarks made by the leaders, including the CPM Idukki district secretary, against the District Collector and amicus curiae following the High Court's order preventing the construction of the CPM Area Committee office in Santhanpara. The division bench expressed its displeasure while hearing the contempt of court case against CPM Idukki district secretary C V Varghese and the petitions to stop the illegal construction in Munnar.
"The district collector and amicus curiae are working according to the court's instructions. If you have objections, you should approach the court. Why are senior leaders calling a press conference against both of them? If this continues, it will be seen as interference in court proceedings. If you have something to say, say it in court. If there is a mistake in the court's order, you can point it out. What is the point of speaking against the collector in front of the media when one can legally oppose the contempt petition, file an appeal, and file a review? - asked a division bench comprising Justice Muhammad Mushtaq and Justice Shobha Annamma Eapen.
The lawyer of the CPM district secretary told the court that the matter raised by the court would be brought to the attention of the party and that there will be no further public statement.
