KOTTAYAM: Nandakumar Kolathappilly, former additional secretary of the secretariat, who abused former chief minister Oommen Chandy's daughter Achu Oommen on Facebook, will be questioned today. The Poojappura police had served a notice asking him to appear at 10 am today. The police have registered a case under bailable sections.

The police had earlier registered a case on Achu Oommen's complaint and had recorded his statement. However, interrogation was postponed following Puthupally by-election. Nandakumar had apologized after the police registered a case. His Facebook account was frozen. He had two accounts on Facebook. In this, the account of Nandakumar Kolathappilly was frozen. He had posted defamatory remarks against her through this account.

Nandakumar, a former Left organization leader in the Secretariat, was reappointed as an administrative officer in IHRD by the government. No action was taken by IHRD for his post insulting women.


Meantime, opposition leader V D Satheesan had written to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan demanding to oust him from service. The opposition leader had alleged that Nandakumar had high CPM connections.

Achu Oommen filed a complaint with the police alleging that she was insulted through social media and party campaign platforms. The Poojappura police later reached Oommen Chandy's house at Karot Vallakal in Puthupally and had recorded her statement.

Complaints were lodged at the Women's Commission, Cyber Cell and Poojapura Police Station for personal attack and insulting womanhood. The complaint was filed with the Facebook links.
