NEW DELHI: The reports that India will be soon renamed Bharat have led to widespread discussions across the country. Now, Union Minister Anurag Thakur has responded to the reports. Anurag Thakur asked why the opposition parties were opposing the name 'Bharat'. The Union Minister added that the reports that are spreading now are just rumours.
The controversy erupted after the invitation letter sent from Rashtrapati Bhavan to those attending the G20 summit was sent in the name of 'President of Bharat' instead of 'President of India'.
"I am a minister in the Government of India. The names Bharat and India will be in the G20 brand logo. There is nothing new in this. Why is there so much opposition to the name Bharat? Anyone who objects to the word Bharat clearly shows the mindset," Anurag Thakur said.
