LUCKNOW: Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge's son Priyank Kharge were booked by the Uttar Pradesh police over the remarks made on 'Sanatana Dharma'. The Rampur police registered the case on the complaint lodged by advocates Harsh Gupta and Ram Singh Lodhi.
The remarks made by Udhayanidhi Stalin in Chennai had sparked a huge controversy at the national level.
“Some things cannot be resisted. It must be eradicated. We cannot resist dengue, malaria, and covid. They should be eliminated,” Udhayanidhi Stalin said. He also said that Sanatana Dharma should be wiped out. Udhayanidhi said that the word 'Sanatana' is from Sanskrit and it is against social justice and equality.
The BJP and extremist Hindu organizations alleged that Udayanidhi Stalin's remark that Sanatana Dharma should be eradicated was aimed at hurting religious feelings and creating communal tensions. Following the remark, Ayodhya monk Jagadguru Paramahamsa Acharya made a provocative call announcing a reward of Rs 10 crore to those who cut off the head of Udhayanidhi Stalin.
