NEW DELHI: According to sources, the special session of Parliament will start in the old building on September 18 and will be later moved to the new building on September 19 on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The Centre has called for a special session of Parliament for five days between September 18 and 22.

An amendment to change the official name of the country from India to Bharat is likely to be tabled in the special session. Meanwhile, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking for the agenda of the special parliamentary session. The letter highlighted nine issues and requested the Prime Minister to allow time to discuss them in the upcoming session.

The issues raised by Sonai Gandhi are price hikes, unemployment, problems related to farmers, allegations against Adani, the Manipur conflict, the China border, and caste census.
