THRISSUR: Molded bronze statues, pottery and vessels from the Iringalakuda Walkway at the Crafts Bazaar are on display at Delhi Pragati Maidan, the main venue of the G20 summit. Major companies including the TVS Group, source their products from here and present them for exhibition and sale. The exhibition is scheduled for the 8th, 9th and 10th.This marks the first time that Nadavarambu products have graced an event of such global significance like the G20 summit. With foreign dignitaries visiting the Crafts Bazaar, these products are set to gain international acclaim and their export potential is poised to grow substantially. Notably, the bronze statues stand out as the main attraction.

Nadavarambu has cultivated a distinguished reputation for its bronze craftsmanship. The factory was founded by Krishnaiyar and following his passing, his sons Krishnappa and Venkiti took the helm. In 1972, the Nadavarambu Krishna Bell Metal Workers Handicrafts Industrial Co-operative Society (Belwix) was established to preserve this cherished artisanal tradition. Today, it operates under the Department of Industries with a workforce of 45 dedicated individuals.

The hallmark of Nadavarambu bronze products lies in their exquisite hand-rubbed and polished finish, steeped in tradition. Behind the artistry and meticulous craftsmanship are the secrets passed down through generations. Bronze, being an alloy of copper and platinum contains three-quarters copper. Due to the high cost of lead, its inclusion would drive up production expenses. The shapes are moulded using a mixture of clay and dung.

Nadavarambu's product range includes rolls, pots, idols, bells, lamps, and more. The cost of their idols ranges from 30,000 to lakhs of rupees. The demand for these products is soaring, as evidenced by the creation of a statue of football legend Maradona for prominent businessman Bobby Chemmannur destined for Argentina.
