THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Despite the third phase allotment for engineering admissions in the state, half of the seats are vacant, mostly in self-financing colleges. The same is the case with low-fee government-run self-financing colleges and government colleges. Not even one of the top 100 rankers in the entrance got admission in Kerala.
This year the total number is 49,903 seats. 49,671 students are included in the entrance rank list. About 50 per cent of seats are vacant. The Entrance Commissionerate clarified that the exact figure will be known only when the third allotment process is completed.
Not even 10 children have been admitted to 30 self-financing colleges. There are many colleges with only 3 students and 14 colleges with only five students. There are colleges where not a single person got admission. Only 25 students in 40 colleges. Only 50 got admission to 60 colleges. More than 100 students were admitted to 19 self-financing colleges.
Allotment from 9th
Those who have not applied for the vacant seats in 126 government-controlled and private sector colleges will be allowed admission through spot allotment from 9th to 13th. 45% marks in Physics and Mathematics are enough for plus two.
Vacancy list on 8th
The list of vacant seats in government and government-controlled private colleges will be published on the 8th. Spot admission will be done on a college basis. Management can make admissions in vacant self-financing seats.
Thiruvananthapuram College of Engineering (CET) has already got a maximum number of children admitted. 757 students. 701 students got admission on merit to Kollam TKM college in the aided section. Thrissur Govt. College 689, Palakkad NSS 598, Kothamangalam Mar Athanasius 593. Kakkanad Rajagiri (403) has the highest allotment in self-finance colleges.
