KOTTAYAM: Axis My India exit poll predicts that Chandy Oommen will win a huge majority in the Puthupally by-polls. The survey indicates that Chandy Oommen will get a majority of more than 18,000 votes. The UDF candidate secured 53 percent of the total 1,31,026 votes polled.
LDF candidate Jaick C Thomas will get 39 percent votes and BJP candidate Lijin Lal will get 5 percent of votes. Others will get three percent of the vote. The survey results indicate that the UDF candidate will get 69,443 votes. LDF is likely to get 51,000 votes and BJP 6551 votes.
According to Axis My India, the UDF has secured the vote of women voters. It is observed that 56 percent of the women voters voted in favour of the UDF. They also got 50 percent of the votes from male voters. It is estimated that 37 percent of female voters and 41 percent of male voters are with the LDF.
It was estimated that there would be record polling in the by-elections following the demise of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. But compared to the last election, the polling rate has dropped. The polling percentage in the 2021 assembly elections was 78.84. But this time it was reduced to 72.86.
