THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A bike journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and back to Kanyakumari in 10 days. Sounds Impossible? Not for 18-year-old Bismilla Khan. Bismilla Khan, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, Mangalapuram is thrilled to have made it a reality on a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 bike.
Bismilla, who loved travelling and bikes, got his license as soon as he turned 18. He also acquired a bike with the financial help of his parents. His parents M Shanawaz and Shemi Shanawaz Parents who supported any wishes of their son allowed their son to travel to Kashmir.
Bismilla started his bike ride from Kanyakumari at 6 am on August 5, 2023, and returned at 5.45 am on the 15th. The journey was through NH 44, the longest national highway in the country. An average of 800-900 km was covered per day. The journey, which started at 6 a.m. often lasted until the early hours of the next day. He reached Kashmir via Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Sagar and Delhi. Hotel rooms were booked in Hyderabad and Delhi. Accommodation elsewhere was with the help of members of the All India Riders Group. Bismillah reached Kashmir on the fifth day and spent the sixth-day sightseeing in Srinagar. Then on the seventh day at 6 in the morning, he returned to Kanyakumari from Lalchowk in Srinagar. He did not stop anywhere on the way. When sleepy, he would stop at a petrol pump or a dhaba and sleep for one or two hours. The journey of 8000 km was completed with only 11 minutes left to complete the 10 days.An application has been submitted to the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records to get approval for the trip.
Bismilla is a first-year student of Aerospace and Aeronautics Engineering at Jain University, Bengaluru. He desires to get a job after studying and continue studying with the income from it to become a pilot. Bismilla's wish is to bring her sister, 8th class student Basma Bismi into bike riding as well.
Bismilla also faced difficulties during the journey. The wheel of the bike got bent at Ambala. The ball bearings were crushed at Coimbatore. He fixed both and continued the journey. A bag containing clothes was stolen from Jammu. He even survived a tribal attack in the forest area of Nagpur.
