chandy-oommen

KOTTAYAM: The majority of Chandy Oommen has crossed thirty-seven thousand as the counting of votes in the Puthuppally by-election progresses. Chandy Oommen has gained a majority which is higher than the majority won by his father Oommen Chandy in the 2011 elections. Chandy Oommen also surpassed the all-time record achieved by Oommen Chandy in Puthuppally. A total of 1,28,624 votes were polled in the constituency this time.

In the 2011 elections, Oommen Chandy had a majority of 33,255 votes against CPM's Suja Susan George. Chandy Oommen managed to surpass this majority as the wave of sympathy following the demise of Oommen Chandy turned into votes this time. The vote level is moving forward by destroying all calculations of the LDF that Chandy Oommen will not get a huge majority even if he wins the by-election.
