CHENNAI: Famous film producer and social media personality Ravindar Chandrasekharan has been arrested by Tamil Nadu police in an alleged money laundering case. The central crime branch placed Chandrasekharan under arrest for extorting Rs 16 crore from a businessman. The police action came after considering a complaint from a Chennai native named Balaji.
Ravindar produced films under the banner of Libra Productions. According to the complaint, the incident happened in 2020. The meeting between Balaji and Ravindar took place in 2020, chiefly to discuss a project for converting solid waste to electricity. Then on September 17, 2020, the two reached an agreement and Balaji paid Rs 15,83,20,000 to Ravindar as part of the terms signed.
However, after receiving the money, Ravindar neither started the business nor returned the money.
