KOTTAYAM: CPM leader M Swaraj played down the victory of Chandy Oommen in Puthuppally as he said such instances of showing sympathy to the deceased(Oommen Chandy) are common in Kerala’s political history.

“ The contest was between Jaick C Thomas and Oommen Chandy, not Chandy Oommen. The same sympathy will vanish in the next election at Puthuppally. We have an example in congress leader Sabarinadhan” said Swaraj.

Meanwhile, Jaick C Thomas accepted the people's verdict in Puthuppally. He also vowed to continue the politics he espouses not minding the vile criticisms that came after his defeat in Puthuppally.

“ Let's work together for new Puthuppally. It is clear from last year's figures that the CPM’s votes are still intact. But it is a fact that we were not able to reach up to that success” Jaick commented.

“Politics found no room for discussion in 2023 Puthuppally by-election. It was just Oommen Chandy's sentiment all around. Good luck to the new MLA of Puthuppally” Jaick closed his statements.
