NEW DELHI: The Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan, the hotspot of the G-20 summit is blanketed in extraordinary security measures, a 7-tier security cordon. More than 10,000 security personnel, including commandos, have been deployed at Bharat Mandapam to respond immediately to any emergency. From this, 6500 officials are selected from Delhi police.
More than 100 high-tech CCTV cameras are lined up in the venue and a dedicated set of officers are made to watch the happening with hawk-eye precision. Artificial intelligence software is also added to the cameras to nitpick criminals and suspicious movements from the venue.
The security deployment is divided into 17 zones and 23 sectors. There are three temporary control rooms. If in case the control system goes kaput, the central control and command rooms at the Delhi Police headquarters will assume control in seconds time.
Snipers are also positioned on high-rise buildings including the Supreme Court of India. Delhi police commandos are placed on the top layer of the security list. Specially trained officers, NSG, BSF, and Navy personnel fill the 2nd section to the 6th one. The last tier of the security formation houses the National Disaster Response Force, capable of dealing with chemical, biological, and nuclear attacks.
Specially made helipads and helicopters have found space in one section of Pragati Maidan. The anti-drone system is also effective in countering the threat of air strikes. In case of an emergency, world leaders will be airlifted with lightning speed.
Extensive safety equipment to protect leaders in any situation, including missile attack is fully prepared. Five safe houses are identified at strategic locations to transfer leaders in case of emergency. 20 bulletproof cars were rented for 18 crore rupees to chaperone the world leaders.
