NEW DELHI: Gold and silver platters will be used to serve food for world leaders at the G20 summit. In the main venue of Bharat Mandapam, chefs from elite five-star hotels are lined up and a live kitchen has been made up especially for world leaders. There are more than 700 chefs from different countries to prepare food according to the predilection of the guests. More than 400 international dishes will be prepared live for foreign delegates.
Unique and indigenous dishes of India will also be served as per the guests' choice. Gold and silver bowls will be used for serving food to world leaders and prominent delegates. Breakfast, lunch, high tea, and dinner will be provided in the venue.
The Delhi government has deputed a special team of officials to ensure that hygienic food is served at the Bharat Mandap and five-star hotels where world leaders and delegates stay. The staff will ensure the quality of food and cleanliness of the kitchen and utensils used. Officials of Delhi's Food Safety Department are in charge of this duty.
18 officials have been deputed to collect samples of ingredients used in food and conduct tests in the labs. G20 delegates stay in 23 five-star hotels across Delhi. US President Joe Biden is staying at ITC Maurya.
