BHOPAL: A member of the royal family was arrested for violating temple rules during Janmashtami celebrations. Jiteshwari Devi, a member of the ancient royal family of Madhya Pradesh's Panna, was arrested for entering the shrine. The incident took place at the famous Sri Jugal Kishore temple in the Bundelkhand area of ​​Panna district.

According to temple rituals, Janmashtami is celebrated every year at midnight. According to the temple officials, Jiteshwari Devi interrupted the ceremony by saying that she will do the aarti herself. Then she tried to forcefully enter the shrine but slipped and fell.

After a scuffle broke out in the temple, the police arrived and asked Jiteshwari Devi to leave. It is also alleged that she was drunk. Footage of Jiteshwari Devi shouting at the police and temple officials was circulated on social media. Jiteshwari was made to leave forcibly by the police.

As per the temple tradition, on Janmashtami day, only male members of the royal family perform the special ritual 'Chanwar'. According to the police, Jiteshwari Devi insisted that she would do the ritual herself as her son could not come. The police registered an FIR against Jiteshwari and arrested her. Meanwhile, Jiteshwari Devi has alleged that the government has siphoned off Rs 65,000 crore from the Defense Welfare Fund and that she was arrested for speaking out about it.
