accident

KATTAKKADA: The police have found that the incident where a student died after being hit by his relative's car in Kattakkada was a murder. The turning point in the case of the death of Poovachal native Adisekhar (15) came after the police examined the CCTV footage of the incident. The footage shows the child riding a bicycle and a car parked on the roadside moving forward and knocking him down. Following this, the police registered a case of homicide against Poovachal native Priyaranjan, an expatriate and a distant relative of Adisekhar.

The fact that Priyaranjan, who came home for Onam vacation, disappeared soon after the murder had increased the suspicion of the police.

Adisekhar, the son of Poovachal native Arunkumar and Deepa died on August 31. He was a class 10 student of the Chinmaya Mission School in Kattakkada. The incident took place around 5 p.m. near the Pulinkode temple. Adisekhar was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a car coming from the opposite direction. The police later found that it was the car of Adisekhar's relative Priyaranjan that hit him. The student died on the spot. Upon examining the CCTV footage, the police confirmed that the accident was deliberately created by Priyaranjan.

Although a week has passed since the incident, the police have not been able to arrest Priyaranjan. It is also alleged that some high officials are providing facilities to the accused to get anticipatory bail.

Reason for the murder?

Priyaranjan is a distant relative of the deceased Adisekhar. Priyaranjan had a grudge against the Adisekhar after the boy questioned Priyaranjan for drinking alcohol while sitting near the temple and for urinating on the temple wall.
