THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Complaints have been raised that appointment procedures are not being initiated for the rank holders in the KSEB meter reader/spot biller rank list.
With only six months to go until the end of the rank list period, the PSC rank holder have approached the government to at least fill the vacancies announced during the first Pinarayi government.
In 2014, PSC advertised for the post of Meter Reader/Spot Biller. The rank list was published after five years of conducting the exam in 2016. Despite 1721 vacancies, 799 were cut in 2019 citing economic crisis. Later, the vacancies were reduced to 436 as the posts were eliminated.
In the list released on March 19, 2021, 600 people have been included in the main list. 436 people will be appointed immediately, the then Minister of Power MM Mani said. In the first phase, 218 people were given advice memo. Appointment for the remaining 218 candidates were postponed by the second Pinarayi government. Later, daily wagers were appointed as meter readers.
Most people in the rank list cannot write another exam as they have exceeded age limitations.
