THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two former Congress MLAs will also be arraigned in the assembly ruckus case. The two arraigned will be M A Wahid and Sivadasan Nair. After arraigning the two in the case, the crime branch will submit a report in the court. Both are being arraigned for manhandling former woman MLA Jamila Prakash. Congress leaders are being added as accused in the case where only left leaders were there till now.
The then opposition MLAs created a ruckus in the Assembly to obstruct the budget presentation of Finance Minister K M Mani on March 13, 2015 when the bar bribery scandal was raging. The opposition also destroyed the Speaker's chair. Apart from V Sivankutty, who is now a minister, the Cantonment Police had registered a case against MLAs including E P Jayarajan, K T Jaleel and K Ajith under sections including destruction of public property.
The accused faced a setback after moving the Supreme Court seeking to exclude them from the charge sheet. The crime branch moved the Supreme Court seeking further probe when the trial in the case was about to begin. The DGP sought permission for further investigation on the complaint of leftist women leaders that even after the then opposition MLAs attacked and injured them, they were not arraigned.
