THRISSUR: CPM strongman and former MP P K Biju denied any involvement in the Karuvannur bank scam after Congress dragged his name into the issue with strong allegations. Biju snubbed Congress leader Anil Akkara’s allegation and challenged him to hand over any evidence regarding the scam to the media.
Biju clarified that he was not a member of the party commission that investigated the Karuvannur bank fraud. He said the communist party doesn’t need the money of fraudsters to survive. P. K. Biju later added that he did not know whether the party had appointed an inquiry commission into the issue.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate had told the court that Satish Kumar, the first arrested in the fraud, was a benami of a sitting MLA, former MP, and some high-ranking police officers. It was only after the ED statement that Congress leader Anil came up with a direct attack on P K Biju and said the ED statement was implicitly mentioning Biju.
According to Anil, former minister A C Moideen and former MP P K Biju are equally involved in the case.
