THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI's findings that the then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's name was not included in the first letter written by the complainant in the solar case while she was in jail has paved the way for a new political storm.

In the report submitted by the CBI to the Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, it was stated that there was a conspiracy led by the complainant to trap Oommen Chandy.

The 77-page report states that KB Ganesh Kumar, who had to resign from Oommen Chandy's cabinet, his relative Saranya Manoj and controversial broker Nandakumar are behind the conspiracy.

The information came out when Ganesh Kumar, who is with the left, was hoping for a ministerial position in November.

The report also suggests that the former MLA PC George conspired to testify about the sexual abuse at Cliff House on 19 September 2012. However, George gave a statement to the CBI that he was not a witness to the abuse.

The harassment case against Oommen Chandy was investigated by CBI Kochi unit as requested by the first Pinarayi government. The report submitted by CBI inspector Nipun Shankar in December was accepted by the court on September 2 and Oommen Chandy was acquitted.

Consequences

1. The opposition will bring an emergency resolution in the assembly session starting today. A severe attack will be made against the Chief Minister and Ganesh Kumar.

2. Possibility of prosecution against conspirators.

3. Oommen Chandy's family or party workers may approach the court.

4. Conspiracy case may go to CBI. The police may file a case to stop it.
