KAZHAKOOTAM: Graduate student committed suicide after informing her male friend on the phone. Anchana (20), daughter of Anilkumar and Babynisha of Thiruvathira, Pullattukari, Kazhakoottam, a B.Com student of a private college in Kazhakoottam, is the one who committed suicide. The incident happened yesterday evening. She called her male friend in Kazhakoottam to inform him that she was going to commit suicide at her sister's rented house in Ramachandra Nagar.

By the time the friend came to this house with another person, kicked open the door and entered, Anchana was already hanging. She was then taken to a private hospital in Kazhakoottam but could not be saved. Anchana's parents had gone to Tamil Nadu to attend a function. Police said that Anchana, who was with her relatives at home, committed suicide after reaching her sister's house three-quarters of a kilometre away. Anchana is the secretary of the SFI Pullattukari unit. Her sister is Yamuna.
