MUMBAI: A person was killed in a clash between two groups in Maharashtra's Satara over an offensive post on social media. Three people were seriously injured. A clash broke out between the two factions in Kathav taluk of Satara district.

According to the Satara police, one person was killed during the clash, a few people are undergoing treatment in the hospital and the situation is under control. Following the incident, the Satara district administration cut the internet connection in the region.

According to the police, the clash took place in Pusesawali village, 160 km from Pune and 50 km from the district headquarters of Satara.The preliminary investigation revealed that a social media post by some youths from a community led to the clash between the two groups around 9.30 pm on Sunday. Many houses were burnt during the clashes. Vehicles and other objects were also vandalized. Officials informed that the police have been deployed to ensure law and order in the village.
